There are frequent places along the Blue Ridge Parkway to pull over and get out of the car and into the mountains around the Parkway. Most of these are overlooks, with mountains rising on one side and dropping on the other, leaving one side open for long-range views over the Blue Ridge mountain ranges. Along the sections of road that are not on the edges of the mountains, pull-offs have hills rising on either side. Since they do not “look over” the tops of mountains, they are designated “Parking Areas” instead of “Overlooks.” Below is a list of parking areas along the Blue Ridge Parkway.
