The Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center, located at milepost 384, opened in 2008. At the Center, high-tech and innovative exhibits teach about the features and history of the Parkway. A 22-foot interactive map called the I-Wall shows the entire Parkway. As viewers slide a movable screen across the map, digital information and images appear. A gift shop offers books, souvenirs, clothing, and children’s items.
“The Blue Ridge Parkway – America’s Favorite Journey” is an award-winning film shown in the center’s 70-seat theater. The dramatic photography in this 24-minute film highlights the history and sights of the roadway. The movie is shown every hour.
Admission is free. The Center is open from 9am to 5pm daily, except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
