Volunteers are invited to join state park rangers on trail work projects in Grandfather Mountain State Park on June 4, 2012. Tasks planned for the day include improving the entrance of the Daniel Boone Scout Trail, working on water bars along the Nuwati Trail, and cleaning up around High Balsam Shelter.
Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves if they have them, to wear sturdy work or hiking books and to bring layers of clothing, a rain jacket, water and snacks. The project will last from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. A minimum of 1.5 miles of hiking is involved.
Pre-registration to help out June 4 is required. Please call the state park office at 828-963-9522 to register by June 1.
