Blue Ridge Parkway Spring Cleanup Schedule - Updated 4/23/2010

While we’ve begun enjoying the beautiful spring weather, the Blue Ridge Parkway is still trying to recover from harsh winter storms.

There are road closures still in place due to downed trees and debris in the roadway.

The National Park Service has released this latest update on road conditions and anticipated openings.

MP	PROJECT	ANTICIPATED OPENING
MP 0 – 305	Road is open. Storm damage clean-up is be conducted by Park staff on a limited basis under traffic control.	OPEN
MP 305 -316	This section is closed. Vendor will begin work on storm damage removal and chipping debris, hazard tree removal, and over-story cutting on April 29.	May 15
MP 316 – 334	Road is open.	OPEN
MP 334 – 342	This section is closed. Vendor is working on over-story trimming, storm damage removal, and hazard tree removal.	April 28
MP 344 – 355	Road is open. Vendor is working on storm damage removal and chipping debris. Work in this section is planned for completion by April 28.	OPEN
MP 355 – 399	Road is open. Storm damage clean-up is being conducted by Park staff and contract vendor under traffic control.	OPEN
MP 399 – 405.5	This section is closed. This section will remain closed until July 1 due to the land slide at MP 400.	July 1
MP 405.5 – 408	This section will be open by noon on April 23.	April 23
MP 411 – 418	Road is open. Vendor will return at a later date to complete storm damage removal and chipping debris under daily road closure.	OPEN

By noon on Friday, April 23 the roadway between MP 405 and 469 should be open for travel.
