GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN, NC – The Grandfather Mountain Nature Attraction, operated by Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation, is making decisions on a daily basis whether to open the attraction to the public.
Home of the Mile High Swinging Bridge and Wildlife Habitats, the travel attraction has been hit hard by snow, ice, bitter temperatures and high winds.
The condition of the road and walkways inside the park varies day-to-day. Those thinking about coming to Grandfather Mountain are asked to call ahead for current conditions and to find out if the park is open. The Grandfather Mountain Entrance Gate phone number is 828-733-4337.
The State of North Carolina has closed Grandfather Mountain State Park. The State Park encompasses the Mountain’s 11-mile trail network.
Trailheads on NC 105 and along the Blue Ridge Parkway are inaccessible to vehicles. State park system rangers and staff of the private Grandfather Mountain attraction will be working together to clear trails of downed trees in the coming weeks.
