The Blue Ridge Parkway varies in elevation from just under 650' at Virginia's James River Visitor Center to over 6,000' south of Mount Pisgah in North Carolina. Because of these differences in elevations, weather conditions can vary tremendously from north to south. Keep abreast of weather conditions for the area you will be traveling in and be prepared with extra clothing or blankets as appropriate.
