Overlook Description
In the 1880s, loggers cut down thousands of trees on the surrounding slopes. Using tools called cant-hooks, the lumberjacks would slide the logs down the slopes to the hollow below. After the logs were slid into the creekbed, men would open dams from nearby streams to create a flood of water to carry the logs to the lumber mill.
