Overlook Description
Beautiful views abound from this overlook. Visitors can see several mountains including Linville Mountain, Honeycutt Mountain and the flat-topped mountain Table Rock. In May the apple orchards blossom with color and fragrance covering the hillsides. The moniker Heffner Gap comes from a widow named Amanda Heffner who lived in the gap. During the tough times of the Civil War she was able to run her farm and raise a strong family.
