Overlook Description

At this overlook the beautiful flowers, plants and trees of the Parkway surround visitors. Also known as the Spruce Pine District, this area is filled with an abundance of minerals below ground. Native American tribes would travel great distances to come to the area to dig for mica. The word "toe" derives from the Cherokee. Other minerals found in this area include feldspar, kaolin and quartz.
