The Northwest Trading Post has local color on its shelves, hewed from the imagination and perseverance of local citizens. The trading post deals in the home-crafted products of Ashe and ten neighboring counties of northwest North Carolina. A Blue Ridge Parkway visitor center was added onto the Northwest Trading Post in 2002. The visitor center is a valuable resource for information on the Blue Ridge Parkway and the surrounding area.
