When the National Park Service was born in 1916, it was given two goals: first to protect the park and second to provide ways for visitors to enjoy the park. Today on the Blue Ridge Parkway it is possible to rock climb, hang glide, fish for trout, bicycle... almost any activity that does not damage the park or endanger other visitors.
For more information on the most common sports choose one of the above links. Before heading out for a day of recreation, please be sure to review park regulations. Remember, every visitor has an impact and we want your visit to be good for you and the park.
