Brinegar Days Festival
Aug 08, 2009
When we preserve the story of an individual family like the Brinegars, we preserve an important part of a larger story. Recording our individual family stories is the first step toward preserving the history of a larger community. During this special day programs, workshops, and demonstrations will focus on the lives and history of the Brinegards and their local community and ways to preserve your own family history. There will be workshops on how to do oral history interviews, journaling, scrapbooking, photo preservation, and shape note singing.
The Weaving & Spinning Workshop takes place from 1:00 -4:00 PM. Use a drop spindle to spin wool into yarn, and learn how to warp and weave a tabby weave using a small frame loom. Take the drop spindle, frame loom, and some wool home to practice with. Reservations can be made for the workshop by calling (540) 745 9680 or (336) 372 8568. $30 cost for Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway members and $35 for non members.
