Weaving and Spinning Workshop

Use a drop spindle to spin wool into yarn, and learn how to warp and weave a tabby weave using a small frame loom. Take the drop spindle, frame loom, and some wool home to practice with. Fee: $30 friends members/ $35 non-members
Skilled park rangers and master cultural volunteers will be leading hands-on workshops this summer at Mabry Mill. The public is invited to come and learn a new skill and help keep these traditions alive.
These workshops are sponsored by Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway, a non-profit, membership orgaization that recruits and provides leadership for park volunteers. For Friends membership information call 1-800-228 PARK or go to blueridgefriends.org.
There is a fee for these workshops that covers the cost of materials and supports the Friends. Fees range from $15 to $35 and are payable the day of the workshop in cash or check made out to Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Advanced reservations are requested as space is limited. Interested people may make reservations by calling the Rocky Knob Visitor Center at (540) 745 9662.
