SEASONAL. The hundred-year old Historic Orchard at Altapass is directly on the Blue Ridge Parkway, nestled in mountain ridges that treat its visitors to breathtaking views. The Orchard is preserving dozens of varieties of old-time mountain apples and providing heritage-filled activities for its many guests. All visitors are invited to be a part of the fun. Activities include storytelling hayrides, traditional live mountain music and dancing, arts and craft demonstrations, and nature walks. The Orchard is an official Monarch Waystation Facility, so you can participate in a monarch butterfly program, and visit an on-the-grounds working blacksmith shop (open weekends). The gift shop has offerings of fabulous local arts and crafts, books, clothing, jams, jellies, condiments, Orchard-made fudge, hand dipped ice cream and a hot snacks wagon.

The Historic Orchard at Altapass, a 501(c)3 public charity, is known throughout the Blue Ridge for “Saving the Good Stuff.”
