Wildflowers of the Blue Ridge Parkway - Phlox

General Description

Phlox is an erect and spreading herbaceous perennial with thick, lance-shaped leaves that grow to 5 inches long. It can grow 1 to 1.5 feet tall. It bears cymes of small, salverform, purple to pink, rarely white flowers in summer. Phlox is very tolerant of hot climates and has bright green leaves, bearing pink flower in early summer.
