General Description
The Bead Lily is a low plant with a basal clump of broad, glossy, and slightly pubescent leaves. The leaves surround a 6-20 inch leafless stem topped by a cluster of nodding white flowers. These flowers are often speckled with green and purple. Black berries follow the flowers. This plant creates excellent groundcover for shady spots as most of the long-lasting leaves remain green all summer.

Uses
The leaves of the Bead Lily are edible. They are harvested in spring while still young, before they fully unfurl. The leaves have a cucumber-like flavor.
