The new National Parks Pass was introduced nationwide during the week of National Park Week 2000 celebrations in April. National Park Week is the week proclaimed by the President to celebrate and honor the richness, diversity and spirit of America’s 379 national parks.
The Blue Ridge Parkway is proud to be able to offer the National Parks Pass to local communities even though there is no entrance fee on the Parkway. American families get a great bargain by purchasing one pass allowing entry to any of the more than 140 national park sites that charge entrance fees. By purchasing a pass they also provide financial support to their favorite national parks. A full 70% of the proceeds from the sales of passes on the Blue Ridge Parkway will go directly to projects that help visitors experience the Blue Ridge Parkway. The remaining 30% of the proceeds go to a national fund that supports projects at any of the 379 national park units.
The National Parks Pass will be sold for $50 at Blue Ridge Parkway locations and other parks around the country, online at www.nationalparks.org and toll free at 1-888-GO-PARKS. Pass holders and family members or other traveling companions in a car or camper get free admission for one year from purchase to all national parks sites that charge entrance fees.
