The Blue Ridge Parkway license plates are providing over one-half million dollars annually in support for projects that benefit the Parkway. There are now 24,000 - plus active plates on the roads of North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation invites plate owners to register for a Free Luxury Trip online at the Foundation’s contest description page.
"We are always looking for creative ways to thank the people who are displaying the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation plates", states Houck Medford, Executive Director of the Foundation. "And we appreciate Mast Farm Inn, Club Ferdinand, and Mast General Store as partners making this possible because they recognize the value and joy of having a national park in their back yards."
The winner and a guest will stay at Mast Farm Inn, a world renowned full service North Carolina Bed and Breakfast, Country Inn & Restaurant in Historic Valle Crucis, NC. The Inn is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Member of The Select Registry. A Porsche from the stable of Club Ferdinand will be available to the winner for a cruise down the Parkway and a trip to Mast General Store to redeem a $100 gift certificate that is included in the prize.
To enter the contest, go online to BRPFoundation.org. Entries will be accepted until October 30, 2008. The drawing will take place on December 1, 2008 and the winner will have up to 12 months to schedule the trip.
In addition to the financial contribution, driving a car with the Parkway plate is a visible indicator of the depth of caring and appreciation people have for the Blue Ridge Parkway. "This collective support is making a lasting difference for the Parkway by making it possible to fund many needed projects that enhance the visitor experience while assuring that the natural, cultural, and historic treasures of the Parkway are protected today and into the future." says Medford.
Although Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation vehicle specialty license plates may be purchased directly through North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles website, the motorcycle applications can only be submitted through the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation until the initial 300 applications are collected. Residents outside of North Carolina may purchase RIDE novelty plates through the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation Store.
