Parkway Detour at Meadows of Dan

May 20, 2004

(Meadows of Dan) Blue Ridge Parkway traffic at Meadows of Dan is being detoured for the widening of U.S. Highway 58, but officials said today that the detour is short and should not involve significant traffic delays.

US 58 between Stuart and Hillsville, Virginia, is being widened to four-lanes by the Virginia Department of Transportation in cooperation with Branch Highways, Inc. The section now under construction crosses the Parkway at milepost 177.7, just south of Mabry Mill.

The detour, which is less than ¼-mile, is expected to be in place until spring of 2005.
