Ft. Hamby Pow Wow
Sep 18, 2009 - Sep 20, 2009
This is an educational Native American gathering cosponsored by the Blue Ridge Intertribal Pow Wow Association and the W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir. Friday is Kids Day and there will be activities during school hour for the Kids (all ages). There will be something going on all weekend for the kids to learn and do. The Ft. Hamby Park Rangers will help teach the kids how to make a rain stick, etc and we will be doing dream catchers and leather bags. We have an herb person to teach the kids a little about natural ways to recognize plants to help disease and pain. There will also be dancing, drumming, singing, flint knappers, storytellers, tee pees, flute and other music performances, food and handmade craft vendors. Ask the vendors why and how they made their crafts. There will be something going on all day so come early, bring your lawn chairs and stay all day. You will be asked to participate in the dancing when ever there is an “intertribal” dance. Grand Entry is at 7 on Friday and 1 and 7 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday. At that time ALL VETERANS will be asked to join us in our Grand Entry to be recognized for what they have done to keep our country free.
