Fishing is still productive in the High Country despite the hot weather. Many of our wild trout streams around the Blue Ridge Parkway are great this time of year simply because they hold colder water. Brown, Rainbow, and Brook trout are being caught using a two nymph rig and a dry and dropper rig.
Sulphur mayflies and dun variant mayflies have been hatching sporadically throughout the day. Brown, dun, and yellow caddis have also been hatching as well as small yellow stoneflies in the evening. As always, terrestrials are prevalent and should not be overlooked. Use fish beetles, ants, inchworms, and grasshopper imitations for an aggressive strike.
Trout Lake and Bass Lake will provide great fishing opportunities for largemouth bass and bluegill. Fish have been caught using popping bugs and terrestrial patterns as well as streamer patterns.
One of our favorite things to do around here is offer Guided Fly Fishing Trips. Check out our website for more info and schedule yours today!
