A Note from Joe & Sarah:
Virtual Blue Ridge began with the pull that so many people feel towards the mountains. It brought us both to Boone, North Carolina, where we now make our home and manage the Virtual Blue Ridge network as a way of sharing our love of the Blue Ridge.
It is a grand claim that there is something here for every type of person, but we make it with confidence. We have been at overlooks before dawn in freezing temperatures and watched photographers adjust camera settings with clumsy gloved fingers, ready for perhaps the hundredth time to try to frame the sun rising above the ridgelines of mountains, the pools of clouds that get caught in valleys, and the wide and wild palette of colors moving through the sky. We have hiked to summits for the sunset and returned on trails lit by moonlight. We have been passed on trails by energized runners and given directions to visiting families, listened to generations-old Appalachian songs, waited in line to jump from the tops of waterfalls, and learned the names of flora & fauna from people who spoke with impossibly broad knowledge and decades-old passion.
Our goal is to share the Blue Ridge Parkway experience online with long-distance viewers and to make the experience as excellent and easy as possible for visitors and residents. We travel the Parkway almost daily to bring you new photos, information, and resources.
